Aaron Vanderveen. 1 post ยท Joined 2016. #7 ยท Feb 12, 2021. I did a cp3 conversion on my 2010 audi a3 2L tdi. Installing the cp3 is easy. Unlike the crapy cp4.1, the CP3 is naturally balanced and does not require to be timed or pinned to the engine.The best deal for the conversion is from darkside developments out of the UK.
Remove the bolts and the hose clamp indicated below. In the left side of the engine (sitting in the car), above the transmission is a single 12 point (triple square) bolt. Remove it to get play on the rigid coolant pipe and you now have enough play to push it around and get the thermostat out. You have to remove the air intake box for clearance
Just do a google search for it. BTW, you need the 10mm plugs for the engine and the coolant plugs are 12mm. Good luck and hope you can get rid of that pesky code for good with this procedure. EDIT: TDI Allen did a writeup on how to change the 4 wire glow plug harness if you decide to change yours.
